PBH Celebrates 25 Years!

On May 31, 2016, Produce for Better Health Foundation officially turned 25!!! “All of us, PBH, our supporters, and the fruit and vegetable industry, have much to celebrate,” says Elizabeth Pivonka, President and CEO of PBH. “It's hard to believe that this much time has passed, but when one looks at all PBH has accomplished, it's really quite remarkable.”

How did it all begin??  In 1991 there was an opportunity to get people's attention and to help them learn about fruit and vegetables.  We knew that increases in fruit and vegetable consumption led to improved health, we simply had to shape it, package it, and share it in ways relatable to consumers.  So we did.  Over the years, consumers have come to understand our message.  And we've come to understand them.

Our purpose is simple – To educate consumers about fruit and vegetables and to help them increase their consumption for better health.  This is what we set out to do 25 years ago, and we've done a great job.  We've fulfilled our purpose through solid science, good education, and clear communications.  Today, Produce for Better Health Foundation is THE source for information and insight about fruits and vegetables for consumers, media and our industry.  We have influenced the influencers, been a catalyst for change, inspiring, educating and helping consumers make better food choices.  We produce award-winning websites for consumers, for the fruit & vegetable industry, and even a special site for children. We have tremendous press coverage and wide recognition of our position as experts in the field of health and nutrition.

For all that we've done, and for all that we do, we do so efficiently and economically.  On average, we leverage $29,000 in marketing and communications from every single dollar contributed.  Yet, PBH does what we do with a very small, dedicated staff of 9.

PBH's greatest success is our established credibility, and our greatest asset as we move forward.  Credibility is what the twenty-five year investment in time, money and energy has brought us, and the foundation on which we'll build our next twenty-five years.  PBH is an organization that has grown from simple and little known to an organization with an influential presence, sophisticated approaches and significant impacts on the public consciousness.

We thank all of our financial supporters who have made our work possible, and we thank those who help spread the message about eating MORE. Working together, WE ARE PBH!!!
